I am a professor of political science at Rutgers University. My interests are in the politics of crime and violence, race and class inequality, political mobilization, constitutionalism and democratic accountability. I teach Law and Politics, Constitutional Law and Comparative Crime and Punishment at the undergraduate level, and Research Design and Advanced Law and Politics seminars at the graduate level. My most recent book is The Myth of Mob Rule: Violent Crime and Democratic Politics (OUP, 2016). In 2015-16 I served as the John G. Winant Visiting Professor of American Politics at the Rothermere American Institute at the University of Oxford.
